This interactive morning workshop will draw upon literature and research in communication, psychology, acting, neuro-linguistic programming, and cultural anthropology for application to client counseling. We will focus on how voice and gesture can be employed to communicate complex ideas and legal concepts unfamiliar to clients. This will be followed by demonstration and exercises using voice, body language and phrasings to establish and maintain client connection and rapport, with particular focus on how to present bad news without harming the client relationship. Finally, we will explore and practice framing choices that recognize and work with client-held myths, narratives, and identity.
Participants staying for the afternoon workshop, Lawyer’s Present…So Present Well are welcome to stay for lunch.
